Rev. Diane BerkeCo-Founder and Spiritual Director; Educational Director of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary
Diane holds a Master’s Degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree in psychology from Yale University, and a Ph.D. in therapeutic counseling. She was co-founder and Senior Minister of the Interfaith Fellowship and is well-versed in the world’s spiritual traditions, psychology, and the Course in Miracles. Ordained as an Interfaith minister in 1988, Diane became a leading figure in Interfaith education, serving as dean and faculty member at The New Seminary for ten years before becoming its Director from 1998 to 2002.
She lives her practice by reaching for love rather than fear, and choosing the path of forgiveness whenever given the opportunity. Diane’s ability to hold space in the classroom prompted one student to describe Diane with the statement, “In addition to her intelligence and a heart filled with love and compassion, her presence allows a place for students to confront and heal their wounds, to ground themselves deeply within their spiritual practice, to develop spiritual integrity, and to know their calling to serve God and humanity.” Diane has an ability to create an extraordinarily rich learning environment in both classes and private sessions. A psychotherapist and spiritual counselor in private practice for over 25 years, as well as an inspiring teacher for over 20 years, Diane has authored many articles and several books including Love Always Answers and The Gentle Smile..
Rev. Franne Demetrician, N.C.T.M.B.First Year Dean
Rev. Franne Demetrician is approaching her third year as dean of first-year students at One Spirit. She and her husband, Bob, were ordained in 2003. As a dean her role is counselor, mentor and compassionate witness to the students she “shepherds” through their first year of the seminary experience. Born into the Jewish tradition, Franne has always had an eclectic vision of her spirituality and has been naturally “Interfaith” all of her life. She has a deeply held conviction that Interfaith and InterSpiritual understanding are at the heart of the Jewish concept of “tikkun olom” (healing the world) and sees One Spirit as a catalyst for that understanding and healing.
Franne considers her role at One Spirit to be a great honor and an opportunity to serve her greater community. She has been a nationally certified massage therapist and Reiki practitioner for close to ten years, has a successful home-based massage practice, and has 15+ years of experience in corporate administration. She also has a lifelong passion for music, art and the creative process. She and her husband have founded and host a monthly meeting of the Common Ground Interfaith Study Group. Franne has vowed to live with integrity, authenticity and mindfulness; to be a conduit for God’s creativity and love; and to live with the consciousness of the Universe as a harmonious Oneness.
Rev. Robert DemetricianFirst Year Dean
Rev. Robert Demetrician has been the chief audio recording engineer at One Spirit Learning Alliance since it’s inception in 2002. Drawing from his varied background (professional musician/recording engineer, corporate IT programmer/analyst, Interfaith minister and spiritual counselor), he brings a unique blend of skills and enthusiasm to the organization. When he’s not behind the controls at One Spirit Bob is applying his deeply held spiritual principles to his role as a Lead Systems Analyst for Axa Equitable in New York City.
Bob is a professional musician working in the central New Jersey area. He has also served as a hospice spiritual counselor for the Visiting Nurse Association of Mercer County, NJ and Jacob Perlow Hospice in New York, and a mentor of seminary students at One Spirit. He is a member of Spiritual Directors International, and hosts a monthly Interfaith community meeting called Common Ground with his wife Rev. Franne.
Rev. Martha DewingFirst Year Dean
Rev. Martha Dewing, was ordained in 2006. She has served at One Spirit as a member of the Admissions Team, Co-coordinator of the Mentoring Program and as a 2nd year deans’ assistant. This year she is thrilled to become a 1st year dean! Martha has worked for several years with the Caring Circle, a family bereavement program in Westchester County.
She began her career as an elementary school teacher in NYC and abroad and subsequently published and edited a newsletter about children and media. Her undergraduate degree is from New York University and she holds a master’s from Harvard University. She currently serves on the board at Miriam’s Well, a teaching facility in upstate New York whose mission is to offer transformational experiences that initiate and sustain conscious spiritual evolution toward peaceful coexistence.
Rev. Ellen JacobsFirst Year Dean
Rev. Ellen Jacobs is an Interfaith minister and 1st year dean. She is an African-American Literature teacher and administrator at the College of New Rochelle. Ellen is active with the campus ministry, encourages students to explore new paths to God, conducts a worship service each month, and facilitates prayer and discussion groups. Ellen is a New Thought Christian and member of the First Church of Religious Science in New York and is a Religious Science Prayer Practitioner. She holds a Masters degree in English from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Ellen has an easy manner, creates a safe space for everyone she meets, where she is able to address difficult questions that support the growth and understanding of her students.
Rev. Joseph Hambor, LISWFirst Year Dean
Rev. Joseph Hambor, LISW, is a dean of first year students at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. Ordained as an Interfaith minister in 2004, he served as a first year dean for The New Seminary for two years before coming to One Spirit. Joseph's ministry includes spiritual counseling and creating sacred ceremonies from an Interfaith perspective, as well as facilitating clergy support groups in Ohio and New York. He volunteers as Clergy Advisor to the Marion Advisory Council of Kairos Prison Ministries at Marion Correctional Facility, and as a labyrinth walk facilitator at Shepherds Corner.
Joseph is a licensed independent social worker with over 33 years clinical and administrative experience in the mental health and recovery fields, and has served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Social Work of Ohio State University. He maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Westerville, Ohio.
Rev. Robin LaneSecond Year Dean
Rev. Robin Lane was ordained in 2003 as a member of the first graduating class of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. Upon ordination she was hired as a Hospice Chaplain at Jacob Perlow Hospice. Robin has worked in Women’s Reproductive Health for the last 24 years and currently works at the Department of Health and Human Services.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has a small psycho spiritual counseling practice. Robin is an adoring mother of her 27 year old daughter Rachel, who works with young people in need, using dance as a healing modality.
Rev. Joyce Liechenstein, Ph. D.Associate Director of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary
Rev. Joyce Liechenstein, Ph.D., is Associate Director of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, has a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from New York Theological Seminary, a PhD in Therapeutic Counseling and many years of study at the National Psychological Association for Analysis. She has 40 years experience as a minister and director of religious education, and over 27 years as an executive in all phases of Human Rights work for the City of New York. Joyce has a private counseling and supervision practice and brings a rich background to One Spirit, having served culturally diverse populations, including city workers impacted by the trauma of September 11th. Joyce is a Chaplain for the City of New York and served in the American Red Cross, September 11th Recovery Program. She spent 18 years as Dean and Associate Director of The New Seminary.
Joyce brings deep study and spiritual practice to her work, having designed cur¬riculum and attracted lecturers and spiritual advisors to One Spirit’s programs and been a mainstay of the Inter-Spiritual Counseling program for many years. Joyce has an extraordinary knowledge of the scriptures of many faiths, an infectious enthusiasm, and a personal presence that embodies universal love in a way that invites everyone she meets to open their hearts, live more fully and embrace their True Nature
Rev. Mindy RosengartenSecond Year Dean
Rev. Mindy Rosengarten is an ordained Interfaith minister and a second year dean at the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. She earned her Masters in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute, and works as a creative arts therapist at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital in Trenton, NJ.
A certified Spiritual Disaster Care Chaplain, Mindy has been a chaplain with the Red Cross and served eight months at Ground Zero. Mindy sings and composes inspirational music, and worked for over twenty years as a Creative Director in major advertising agencies.
Rev. Susan TurchinDirector of Enrollment, Communications and Community
Rev. Susan Turchin is Director of Enrollment, Communications and Community, as well as the teacher of Ceremonies Based Ministry. She performs 30 to 50 interfaith ceremonies a year and was an addictions counselor for ten years at the International Center for the Disabled. At CIS Addiction Services she developed programs in Spirituality and addiction, taught classes at The New York Council on Alcoholism, the Nassau County Counsel on Substance Abuse, the Freeport Outpatient Clinic and the Caron Foundation. Susan served as a Corporate Wellness Consultant to The New York Times, Forbes, Viacom, Minolta, University Settlement House, and LaGuardia Community College. She was an Associate Minister at the All Faiths Congregation and has an ability to connect with people in an easy and heartfelt manner.
Rev. David WallaceSecond Year Dean
Rev. David Wallace is an Interfaith minister and dean at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. He is a graduate of St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM, and a lifelong student of the “great books” of philosophy and archetypal psychology. David has an extensive career in publishing and marketing, along with award winning work at his own retail galleries. He has been a consultant to FAO Schwarz, was a founding board member of Miriam’s Well, in Saugerties, New York. David served on the worship committee and board of Judson Memorial Church in New York, where he preached and taught centering prayer. David is involved with the Alzheimer’s Association of NY, serves as a certified Spiritual Disaster Care Chaplain for New York City, and is a penetrating teacher of the of both Eastern and Western sacred scriptures.
Rev. Karen Watt, M.A.
Rev. Karen Watt, M.A., is an ordained Interfaith Minister, a consultant to business, educational, and non-profit organizations and a personal and business coach. She is a trained facilitator, a certified mediator, Enneagram Teacher, and experienced educator. Karen has facilitated organizational learning and coached both individuals and teams in large corporations. She served as a lead teacher and Board President at the Institute for the Advancement of Service in Alexandria, VA., has a Master’s Degree from George Washington University, and is a longtime student of the Diamond Heart work. Karen designed and teaches the highly regarded Inner Journey from Me to We. In her various roles as teacher, counselor, and coach she provides a safe space for individuals to understand the “limits to growth” that impede their development. Karen nurtures her students’ personal mastery, self knowledge, and capacity for skillful action in personal and professional relationships.
Rev. Michael Pergola JD, MBACo-Founder and Executive Director
Michael is a long time student of culture change, individual development, organizational dynamics and the world’s wisdom traditions. He has pursued personal mastery and an understanding of culture, consciousness, and creativity for over 30 years. Michael was Chief Knowledge Officer at one of the United States’ largest banks, practiced law at Wilmer, Cutler and Pickering and founded business and non profit organizations. An honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Michael has a Masters in Social Structure and Interpersonal Dynamics from Penn, and a law degree and MBA from Cornell. He is trained in systems thinking, social network analysis, meditation, facilitation, emotional intelligence, and biofeedback among others. He works with leadership teams in companies navigating change and has a capacity to listen beyond the words and ask penetrating questions. He synthesizes large bodies of information to develop approaches that empower individuals and organizations to access their potential. Michael develops leaders who engender trust and commitment, mix collaboration and achievement, and produce optimal results.
With a commitment to excellence, Michael helps unleash untapped potential. He has worked with corporate, government, healthcare, educational and not-for-profit clients in a wide variety of settings. In his various roles Michael applies an integral perspective to create cultures and support individuals in developing personal mastery and the capacity for skillful action.
Rev. Miranda McPherson,Founder, The Interfaith Seminary UK
Rev. Miranda McPherson is a dynamic spiritual teacher, counselor and the author of Boundless Love. She founded the Interfaith Seminary in the U.K. Miranda works inspirationally in the moment, often with an open chair, in which any issue that arises becomes a gateway into a direct experience of our deepest Self. Reverend René RaganOrdained Interfaith minister
Spiritual Counselor
Reverend René Ragan is an Interfaith minister and Spiritual counselor. René is the founder of a spiritual center and interfaith church and has served on many boards for non-profit organizations. A woman of many talents, she has owned a daycare center, worked with Ph.D. candidates as a career advisor, created a yoga and exercise studio, managed large health clubs and has run workshops on spiritual topics. Her interest in people and her remarkable communication skills led her to becoming a Vice President at a research and development company that specialized in communication skills and teambuilding. She later developed a consulting business that designed and delivered workshops and seminars on communication skills, diversity training and customer service. Reverend René brings her business acumen as well as a deeply routed spiritual continuum to each of her students, and their lives are immeasurably improved by that experience.
Reverend Dr. Barbara Kinney
Reverend Dr. Barbara Kinney is a graduate of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary and currently participates in One Spirit’s Sacred Leadership Program. Barbara holds Certificates in Pastoral Counseling, Spiritual Direction, and Spiritual Deepening; a multi-disciplinary Masters degree in Human Services from George Washington University, and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Developmental Psychology from Catholic University of America. Barbara served as a health educator with the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa; and has worked in non-profit Administration and Management, Evaluation Research, Human Services, Counseling-Coaching, and Counselor Education. Currently, Barbara serves as adjunct faculty teaching Career Development, Human Development and Pastoral Counseling courses to graduate counseling students. Barbara also enjoys a thriving career and life coaching practice in Bethesda, MD.
Lynne D. Feldman, M.A., J.D.
Lynne D. Feldman, M.A., J.D., is Co-Director of the Integral programs and Director of Integral Education at One Spirit. She has been ordained by the Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI) as a Wisdom Keeper of the Integral spiritual path; she will be ordained by OUnI as clergy; and enters an ordination path at One Spirit. Lynne worked closely with Ken Wilber at Integral Institute for three years where she started the Center for Integral Education and worked on the possibility of an Integral university where she was designated to be vice-chancellor. She has been published in the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice, is on its editorial board, and is an Integral Scholar. Her chapter on Integral education appears in an anthology of Integral education, and she is writing a book on Integral educational reform. Lynne co-founded New York Integral.
Rev. Joan Block Ph. D.
Rev. Joan Block Ph. D. is a poet, a psychological and spiritual counselor, an ordained Zen Buddhist nun and an Interfaith Minister. She has been a serious student and practitioner of Buddhism for over twenty-five years, has a Master’s Degree in counseling psychology from NYU, and is completing her Ph.D. in Religion from Columbia University. She was an early organizer of God’s Love We Deliver and Executive Director of Living Legacy, an AIDS prevention and education organization targeting high risk teenagers. Joan has a deep spiritual presence that supports her students and clients in entering more deeply into their true nature. She is currently working on a book on the relevance of the Heart Sutra (a core Buddhist text) for the 21st century.
